DAVID SASSANO

DAVID SASSANO

Principal Architect

Mr. Sassano joined the firm in 2013 when it was known as Herring & Trowbridge Architects. He became the owner in 2016 upon the retirement of David Herring. As Principal, Mr. Sassano is responsible for overseeing all phases of a project, from inception to completion. He brings thirty-five years of experience with a diverse range of technically complex projects small and large.

Specifically, Mr. Sassano coordinates the integration of technical elements with all other architectural elements. This ensures that creative problem-solving is applied during each step of the design phase, including the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements of a project. Mr. Sassano also communicates with project architects and engineering consultants, so they are well-informed about their responsibilities and the design goals of each project.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Sassano moved to New York City, where he practiced for nine years. During this time, he worked on several award-winning projects, including Stuyvesant High School and Hostos Community College.

Not long before joining AXO, Mr. Sassano worked in South Bend, Indiana. In addition to practicing architecture, he taught at the University of Notre Dame and Andrew’s University; served on the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Historic Preservation Commission of St. Joseph County; and spent several years as a volunteer high-school football coach.
Mr. Sassano is a Registered Architect and member of the American Institute of Architects. He is also a member of the International Data Center Association Technical Committee.
